A subset of machine learning built with neural networks that have many processing layers. Deep learning powers most current generative AI and much modern speech, vision, and recommendation software, but it is not the whole field of AI.
Concrete example
A spam filter built from hand-written rules is AI without deep learning; a modern image generator is deep learning.
